![]() Biomarker validation involves quantitation of a smaller number of candidate biomarkers in a large population of samples. Much of this is currently done using antibody-based techniques but it is possible to supplement this with a mass spectrometry based method especially for the more abundant protein biomarkers. The gold-standard in quantitation For years pharmaceutical companies have relied on AB SCIEX triple quadrupoles to quantify drugs in biological samples for their pre-clinical and clinical trials. The biomarker validation workflow leverages the sensitivity, specificity, and dynamic range of the triple quadrupole function (MRM) of the API triple quad or QTRAP® LC/MS/MS systems to provide accurate and reproducible quantitation. Furthermore, methods developed in the verification phase using the MIDAS™ workflow can be directly applied to the validation phase, and isotopically-labeled synthetic peptides can be added for absolute quantitation.
