This free tool enables efficient and easy selection of SNP sets to distinguish mouse strains of interest, with specific applications in genotype/phenotype mapping and strain verification. Mouse SNPbrowser selects from more than 10,000 Pre-Designed SNP Genotyping assays using either TaqMan® Assay or SNPlex™ Genotyping Systems.
- The mouse SNP database underlying the software includes ~10,000 evenly spaced SNP loci genotyped across 48 inbred mouse strains
- Wizard feature easily selects SNPs for genetic mapping or monitoring
- For genetic mapping—segments each chromosome into evenly sized blocks based on user specified mapping resolution and searches for a distinguishing SNP in each block to generate evenly spaced SNP coverage throughout the genome
- For genetic monitoring—haplotype algorithm selects optimal SNPs to distinguish between any number of strains—SNPs can be selected for each chromosome or across the genome
- Selected SNPs can be exported in a tab-delimited file that displays SNP IDs, location and allelic information
